As an artist I derive great satisfaction from bending and forming
something as commanding as steel. Steel represents power,
strength and endurance leading to its finality as a raw structure that
will last indefinitely. To unite the beauty and grace of a ballet
dancer; capturing a split second of their art in the rigid strength of
steel and combining it with flowing gentle movements of “powerful
elegance”, to harness the dramatic highlights and shadows of the
sun by twisting polished and burnt copper to provide complex
surface motions in changing light. These are my ambitions. In
metal there are no misplaced lines, no slips of a brush; forms are
always premeditated and with purpose.
